Temporary Hair Dye: How People Are Changing Their Hair Colour For Just One Day
So, you’re bored of your current look and now want to drastically change your appearance? We’ve all been there.
What better place to start than by changing the colour of your hair? It’s bold, it’s fun and will definitely make things more interesting for you. Whether it’s walking past a mirror and barely recognising yourself; to all the messages from friends asking if you’re okay - dyeing your hair really will spruce things up in your life - one way or another!
But it’s just not that straight forward, is it?
Most hair dyes are very damaging and a huge commitment once you’ve taken the leap. You can’t simply just wash it off when you’ve had enough. But in all honesty, that just shouldn’t be the case…
Changing your hair colour shouldn’t be a scary or daunting task. If you want to ‘dip your toe in’ just to ‘test-out’ a colour; you should certainly be able to do just that. We’d like to use this moment to introduce our 100% temporary hair dye wax.
Farewell Beauty’s temporary hair dye is our solution for keeping all the fun in changing your hair colour - without the commitment and risk of damage associated with traditional hair dyes.
But why wax?
Well, it actually works exceptionally well with hair if you combine the ingredients in the right way.
A lot of brands - old and new - have given hair waxes a bad name by opting into the use of beeswax. A lot of manufacturers for temporary hair dye wax drift towards beeswax as it’s cheap, gets the job done and is essentially the ‘industry standard’.
But harvesting wax is not only unsustainable and dangerous for many ecological systems; by nature, it’s properties thicken, clump and eventually stiffen most things it’s used with. Not the greatest choice when choosing an ingredient for a temporary hair product!
Our temporary hair dye does not use beeswax like 99% of hair paint waxes do! We instead use water soluble wax that, well.. dissolves in water. And without getting too technical, means no thickness, no clumps and no stiffness!
We’re proud to say we have the only product of its kind that works on all hair types! And being on our 4th formula development this year - we really mean it when we say that we have the only product that works on all hair types!
What else is in it?
We are very proud that this temporary hair dye is, in fact, completely vegan and cruelty-free! There are no sulphides, parabens, ammonias, bleach or any of the other nasty chemicals associated with traditional hair dyes in our wax. It’s so safe that the majority of our customers opt for applying this with their bare hands as it comes off completely after washing your hands with water. No stained skin!
Instead, our temporary hair dye is infused with ingredients such as castor oil and carnauba oil that actually nourish hair at the same time as dyeing it. The end result? Well, hopefully hair that feels great with our hair paint in it, and even better once it’s been washed out.
How do you use temporary hair dye?
It depends on your hair type! The downside to having a temporary hair colour that works on all hair types is that there is no one size fits all application process!
That’s why we’ve taken the initiative to put together a fully comprehensive video tutorial page based on hair type.
Even so, it’s a pretty simple process to apply our temporary hair dye wax:
- Section your hair
- Gradually apply our hair dye wax to the sections (comb/brush it through while you do it. Or scrunch!)
- Air dry or blow dry on a low-medium heat
- Give your hair a final brush/comb/crunch
- ... And voila! You have a brand new temporary hair dye in the space of 15 minutes.
But what about other products I use to make my hair pop?
It’s actually recommended that you incorporate the hair colour wax into your everyday routine. Using moisturisers, oils and conditioners beforehand (leave-in or not leave-in) really supplements the softness of the hair - so definitely give this a try!
As for post application, hair sprays, gels and curl definers are all welcome.
And yes, it’s completely fine to use our temporary hair dye with heated products - so bring on the curlers and straighteners!
But will I need to pre-lighten my hair first?
Not at all! You’ll achieve a wonderful vibrant colour every single time - even with jet black hair.
But my hair is really light! Won’t it stain?!
Our temporary hair dye will never stain. Not your bathtub, clothes or hair. Never. Even with completely white hair, all it would take is one wash with just water to have our colours completely out of your hair!
So if you’re looking for a change in your hair colour - without the commitment and damage associated with traditional dyes - why not give our temporary hair colours a try?
